

Michael J. Rodell, 67, of Palatine was born May 6, 1958 in Chicago to the late Leo and Catherine (nee Fitzgerald) Rodell and passed away on August 12, 2025. Mike was the beloved husband of Beth (nee Lasday) Rodell, and loving father of Hope (Christian Villa) Rodell, Jason Polevoi, and Corey Polevoi; cherished papa of Judah and Catherine Polevoi; dear brother of Tom (Sue) Rodell, Jerry (Jeanette) Rodell, Paul Rodell, JoEllen and Guy Bedow, Michael and Gina Chiappetta, Janice Butler, Jill Chiappetta and Greg Swisher; and fond uncle and great uncle to many nieces and nephews, and numerous friends.
Mike worked at Northern Trust for over 36 years as an equity trader working with institutional and wealth clients and was a highly respected member of the trading community.
He was a passionate hockey lover playing several times a week and enjoyed going to games and watching hockey on TV.
His philanthropic causes were important, and he was always available to step in or participate in a charity golf or hockey event. Mike volunteered with PADS for over 20 years.
Mike and Hope enjoyed annual trips to National and State Parks where they hiked and enjoyed spending time together in the serenity and quiet of nature.
He will be remembered for his great sense of humor and as a loving, caring, loyal and generous friend to all.
In recent years Mike spent a lot of time with his children and grandchildren, nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews; family meant everything to him.
Beth would like him to be remembered as a caring and loving husband who spoke volumes with his actions. Mike thought about everyone else before himself. There wasn’t anything he wouldn’t do for the people he loved.
Hope will remember him as the best dad in the whole wide world. He moved mountains for her. He was her rock for 26 years.
The wake will be Sunday August 17, 2025 from 3:00 – 7:00 PM at Lauterburg Oehler Funeral Home, 2000 E. Northwest Highway. Visitation and the funeral mass will take place at Holy Family Catholic Church, 2515 Palatine, Rd. in Inverness at 12:30 and 1:30. Interment will be private.
Memorials may be made in Mike’s memory to the mental health charity of your choice.
