Michael M. Spellman Of Arlington HeightsMichael M. Spellman was born on January 21, 1964 in Bellevue, Washington to Walter and Mary (nee Dwyer) Spellman. He passed away on Wednesday, January 21, 2015 in Arlington Heights.Mike loved his family, his diverse group of friends and his job at the Daily Herald, where he was privileged to be able to do his dream job; writing about Chicago sports. Mike"s work enabled him to revisit many favorite childhood places, especially Arlington Park and Wrigley Field. His final assignment of covering the Chicago Blackhawks was the zenith of his career, and brought him great joy.Mike is survived by his mother; his three sisters, Judeth Spellman, Maura (Terry) Eggert and Peggy (Craig) Jacobs; his brother, Neal Spellman; his aunt, Lynn (Bryan) West.He was preceded in death by his father.Visitation from 2:00 pm until 9:00 pm, Friday, January 30, 2015 at Glueckert Funeral Home Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Road, Arlington Heights. Prayers 9:15 am Saturday, January 31, 2015 at the Funeral Home, proceeding to St. James Catholic Church, 831 N. Arlington Heights Rd., Arlington Heights for Mass at 10:00 am.
