

Muriel E. JonesMuriel E. (nee Jeske) Jones died on August 2, 2015 due to complications following a stroke. Muriel was born at home on November 6, 1923 on Chicago"s south side to Henry and Eva (nee Rosenquist) Jeske. She attended Parkside Elementary School and Hyde Park High School. In 1943 she married Harry Franklin Jones who was on furlough from the United States Army Air Corp. They were happily married for 68 years. After the war they began their life together in Chicago"s South Shore area. In 1955 they moved to South Holland, IL. While in South Holland, Muriel was active in First Reformed Church, Madison School PTA, Ingall"s Hospital Women"s Auxiliary, and other community affairs. In 1966 Muriel demonstrated her independent spirit as the first woman to run for the local School Board. This occurred during a time of unprecedented turmoil in the local schools.In 1973 Harry"s work took the family to Arlington Heights, where they lived for over 30 years. Harry and Muriel were active in First Presbyterian Church, where together they helped establish a Sunday morning Bible study and were deeply involved in the PADS ministry to homeless persons.Muriel was preceded into death by her beloved husband, Harry, parents; beloved sister and best friend June, and sister Maxine. Muriel is survived by her loving children Christopher S. Jones of Tularosa, New Mexico, her daughter Kathleen J. Stanford of Chicago, and Paul F. (Vicki) Jones, of Pella, Iowa; loving grandchildren, Amy Den Hartog (Matthew) of Ankeny, Iowa, Elizabeth Jones of Nashville, Tennessee, Paul Stanford of Los Angeles, California, and Drew Stanford of Chicago; great-grandchildren, Cora and Greta Den Hartog; dear niece, Leslie (Greg) Tatara and their sons, Eric (Sinem), Chris, and Mark; fond nephew Thomas M. Jones (Mary) and his daughter, Meredith; and dear niece, Patricia G. Jones (Ronnie), and her daughters, Erin (Tim), and Katie Beth, and great nieces Kathryn and Scarlett Jacobs; and special friend Mary Beth Jones.Visitation 2:00 pm Sunday, September 6, 2015 until time of the 3:30 pm Memorial Service at Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd, 1520 N. Arlington Heights Rd. (4 blocks south of Palatine Road), Arlington Heights., IL 60004. Interment is private.
