Myrtle L. Leahy, nee Glowen, 87, of Arlington Heights was born Feb. 16, 1924 in Chicago and passed away Aug. 10, 2011 at Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights. Myrtle was the beloved wife for 60 years of John J. Leahy; loving mother of Kevin (Julie) Leahy, John (Victoria) Leahy, Stephen Leahy, Michael Leahy, Mary Ellen (Thomas) Burkman, David (Colleen) Leahy and Maggie (Neil) Andress; cherished grandmother of 17, great grandmother of 4; dear sister of the late Gerard, Lawrence “Mickey” and Raymond Glowen. Myrtle was a 1945 graduate of Cook County School of Nursing and a past member and former treasurer of the Cook County School of Nursing Alumni Association. Visitation will be Friday Aug. 12, 2011 from 3-9 PM at Lauterburg & Oehler Funeral Home 2000 E. Northwest Hwy. Arlington Heights. Prayers will be said Saturday Aug. 13, 2011 at 8:45 AM at the funeral home and continue to Our Lady of the Wayside Church 450 S. Mitchell Street for funeral mass at 9:30 AM. Interment will be private.
