Nicholas "Nick" Janus was born on October 21, 2003, in Arlington Heights to Peter Janus Jr. and Kara (nee Ackerman) Janus. He died Sunday, August 28, 2022, in Arlington Heights.
A meticulous student, he graduated with highest honors from Buffalo Grove High School, Class of 2022. Nick was a freshman at University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. He was an avid sports fan with a special love for the Cubs, Packers, March Madness and watching Novak Djokovic dominate the tennis court. Nick loved to spend time with his family on many treasured vacations and enjoyed backyard gatherings with family and friends. He had a quick wit, an incredible sense of humor, and a smile that lit up every room he entered. He made every day better for those who knew him.
Nick is survived by his parents, Peter Jr. and Kara Janus; big brother PJ Janus III and sister (as well as best friend) Delaney Janus; grandmother, Elaine Ackerman; aunts and uncles, Lisa Brooks, Ray (Melissa) Ackerman and Joe (Claire) Ackerman; cousins, Ryan Brooks, Amanda (Michael) Sukenik, Jess Brooks, Tyler Ackerman, Kinsey Ackerman, Ian Ackerman and Andrew Ackerman; and many friends. The loves of his life were his three labradoodles, Dillon, Rollins, and Little Bai.
Nicholas is preceded in death by his grandfathers, Raymond Ackerman, Jr. and Peter J. Janus, Sr.
Visitation Tuesday, September 6, 2022, from 3:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd., 1520 North Arlington Heights Road (four blocks south of Palatine Road), Arlington Heights, IL 60004 and Wednesday, September 7, 2022, from 9:00 am until the time of Funeral Mass at 10:00 am at St. Edna Catholic Church, 2525 N. Arlington Heights Road, Arlington Heights. Entombment will be at All Saints Cemetery in Des Plaines.
