Norman A. Anderson

of Arlington Heights

Norman Arnold Anderson was born June 10, 1943, in Chicago to Arnold O. (Andy) and Ella (nee Schoenbeck) Anderson. He died on July 4, 2023, at Mount Prospect Senior Living.

In 1966, Norm joined his brother and parents at Anderson Lock, the family locksmith business in Des Plaines, where he worked until his retirement in 2015. He served in the United States Naval Reserves early in his career. Norm was an avid tennis player; however, because of his humble demeanor, many of his friends did not know he was a nationally-ranked senior tennis player who competed in National Tennis Tournaments. A competitor at heart, Norm enthusiastically enjoyed fishing for the big ones and being a spectator at sporting events. He also loved spending time with his family and friends.

As a young man, Norm attended Jefferson Park Bible Church. He heard the message of the gospel (John 3:16) and believed and trusted Christ as his Savior and Lord. God would faithfully guide Norm’s life and his servant heart. Norm loved people, missions, and charities. His kindness and generosity impacted missionaries and Christian organizations worldwide. He enjoyed “hands-on work” and embraced local and global volunteer opportunities to use his gifts to make life better and sow seeds of kindness and the love of Christ wherever he went.

He is survived by his wife Grace David; sister-in-law Teresa Anderson and brother-in-law Jim (Linda) David; his nieces Cortney (Devin) Wascher and Britt (Brian) Ganan, as well as his great nephew Will Wascher and great nieces Cathryn Wascher and Evie Ganan.

Norman was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Eugene Anderson.

Visitation Tuesday, July 11, 2023 from 10:00am until the time of the 11:00 am Funeral Service at Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd, 1520 North Arlington Heights Road, Arlington Heights, IL 60004. Entombment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Arlington Heights.
