Patrick F. Jops, a cherished husband, father, brother, cousin, and friend, passed away peacefully on June 5, 2025 at the age of 76. Born in Chicago, Patrick lived a life full of love, zest, and dedication to family.
Patrick loved cooking and sharing a home-made meal with family and friends. He was also in the US army as a cook serving the troops of the 219th Aviation Company in Pleiku, Vietnam from 1969-1971.
Travel and physical activity were a major enjoyment of Patrick’s leisure time. He traveled to various countries around the world in six of the seven continents. He and Elaine especially enjoyed visiting many of the US national and state parks as well as many countries abroad. Boating, bicycling, fishing, golfing, hiking, pickleball, playing softball, snorkeling, snowmobiling, swimming, and X-country skiing were some of the many activities he enjoyed. Competing in several local triathlons and stair climbs of the Chicago sky-scrapers challenged his physical fitness. He valued the “triple crown” challenges of golfing, biking and taking a boat ride on Lake Geneva, with his friends. Sharing his passion for outdoor activities, relaxing on the pier or boat at Lake Geneva gave him peace and satisfaction. Extreme joy filled his heart every moment he spent with this beloved granddaughter.
Patrick held a Masters Degree in Business Management. His many careers included a Claims Analyst and Manager at Aon Corp. A Personal Trainer and Heath Coach, and an Export and Import director as well and English Teacher while living in Brazil.
Patrick is survived by his loving wife, Elaine MacAlister; children, Ana Jops, Antonio Jops, Grace (Marc) Battista; cherished granddaughter, Luciana Battista; siblings, Ken (Teena) Jops, Annette Jops, Tom (Elizabeth) Jops; the mother of his children, Djanira Jops; as well as many beloved cousins, nephews and nieces.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Grace Jops.
