Patrick Rooney

Patrick Eugene “Pat” Rooney was born on June 14, 1932, to Eugene Rooney M.D. and Iris Rooney nee Vaile in Chicago, Illinois. He was a loving and caring brother to the late Jeanne, Bill (Audrey), and the late Sheila (Ken), and a proud uncle to many nieces and nephews.

Pat married Mary Kay Rooney (Reid) in 1956 and together they brought six children into the world. Mary Kay died in 1973. In 1974, Pat married Joanne Rooney (Newman) and together they raised the family and enjoyed 46 years of marriage.

Pat’s six children who loved him very much are Patrick, the late Kathleen, Daniel, David, Michael, and Jeanne.

He embraced the role of father-in-law to Kathleen, Haik, Heidi, Kim, the late Kelli, and Anthony.

Pat experienced joy with his 17 grandchildren - Colleen, Paul, Maggie, Elizabeth (Brandon), Jessica, Kevin, Melissa, Daniel (Rose), Cathryn, Caroline, Mary Iris, Shannon, David, Aaron, Benjamin, Patrick and Blair, and his great-grandchildren Avah and Holden.

Pat graduated from St. Margaret Mary in 1946 and Loyola Academy in 1950. He was in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. Pat was also a proud graduate of Loyola University.

Pat had an accomplished career in finance at Mobil Oil, Fabrico Manufacturing and Rooney Landscape.

Everyone who knew Pat was positively impacted by his presence in their lives. He will be deeply missed.

Funeral Mass will be at Holy Family Parish in Inverness, Illinois on Monday, February 1st at 10:30 am. For those planning to attend, registration is required at . Please arrive by 10:10 am for health screening. For those unable to attend please view the live stream at .
