Philip James O’Grady was born September 28, 1941 in Chicago to William and Ruth (nee Hederman) O’Grady. He passed away January 6, 2022 at Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights.
Phil was a proud 1959 graduate of Fenwick High School, a member of the Holy Name Society at Our Lady of the Wayside and an avid Chicago sports fan, specifically the White Sox. He was a proud sports dad and grandpa who loved to take in his grandkids’ games. Phil was an “Irish Catholic Democrat that paid his own way.” He loved to sit on the deck, holding court and conversation with friends and family. The family is grateful for JourneyCare Hospice for the excellent care that Phil received and to Jim Neubert for his weekly visits to see Phil.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years Mary Anne (nee McGuire) O’Grady; his children Bill (Jennifer), Elizabeth (Eric), Philip (Christine), Brian (Chrissie), Margaret and Jim; proud grandpa of Harrison, Meghan, Julia, Sean, P.J., Gabi, Maeve, Margaret and Frannie; his cousin Barbara Wuebbels and by many nieces and nephews.
Phil is preceded in death by his cousin James (Joan) Dohearty and by his parents.
Visitation Monday, January 10, 2021 at Glueckert Funeral Home Ltds., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Road, Arlington Heights, from 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM and Tuesday, January 11, 2021 at Our Lady of the Wayside, 440 S. Mitchell Ave., Arlington Heights from 10:00 AM until the time of Mass at 11:00 AM. Interment private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Misericordia, 6300 N. Ridge Ave., Chicago, IL 60660.
