Rachel Ruth Kagay

Rachel Ruth Kagay was born on January 20, 1933 in Beecher, Illinois to Paul and Ione (nee Lierman) Leimer. She died Monday, April 26, 2021 in Park Ridge.

Rachel lived in the northwest suburbs of Chicago and attended Palatine High School. She married her high school sweetheart, Howard Kagay, in March 1954. She was an active member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Arlington Heights for over 60 years where she served on the altar guild. Rachel enjoyed playing golf, reading, and socializing with her many wonderful friends. She loved time with her family, especially her grandchildren, and was loved by all.

Rachel is survived by her children, Anita (Paul) Moss, Marcia (David) Hettinger and Howard (Michele) Kagay, Jr.; grandchildren, Jennifer (Thomas) Boisseau, Christopher Moss, Angela Hettinger, Brian Hettinger, Alyssa Kagay, Alexander Kagay and Jared Kagay; siblings, Carol Studtmann and Paulette Bryden; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Howard E. Kagay; her parents; and siblings, Warren Leimer, Nathalie Kiedaisch, and Leta Stender.

Visitation will be held Sunday, May 2, 2021 from 2:00 pm until 6:00 pm at Glueckert Funeral Home Ltd. (see funeral home website for capacity limits, PPE requirement, and social distancing guidelines), 1520 N. Arlington Heights Road in Arlington Heights. Funeral services will be held 10:00 am Monday, May 3, 2021at St. Peter Lutheran Church (also with capacity limits, PPE, and social distancing), 111 West Olive Street in Arlington Heights. The church service will be livestreamed at live.fulllifeinchrist.org. Interment will be at Randhill Park Cemetery in Arlington Heights.
