Rafaela Venegas (known as Ita) was born on October 24, 1932 in Chupaderos, Zacatecas, Mexico to Pedro and Aurelia (nee Sanchez) Vargas. She died Monday, December 30, 2019 in Arlington Heights.

Mrs. Venegas worked as a Maintenance Engineer for Rand Grove Village in Palatine for several years. She was a member of Mision San Juan Diego Catholic Church in Arlington Heights. Rafaela loved to walk and find deals at garage sales and shops. She especially enjoyed playing bingo with her friends. She was always fashionable and a pleasure to be around. She loved to spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, and was loved by all.

Rafaela is survived by her children Antonino (Maria Yolanda) Venegas, Javier (Maria Carmen) Venegas, Rafaela (Efrain) Cardenas, Isidoro (Olivia) Venegas, Anselmo (Maria) Venegas and Jesus (Rocio) Vargas; 20 Grandchildren; 46 Great-Grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren; and five siblings.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gonzalo Venegas; her parents; and three siblings.

Visitation Thursday, January 2, 2020 from 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Glueckert Funeral Home Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Road (four blocks south of Palatine Road), Arlington Heights, IL 60004. Prayers 9;00 am, Friday, January 3, 2019 at the funeral home proceeding to Shrine of Our Lady of Gaudalupe, 1170 North River Road, Des Plaines, IL 60016 for a 10:00 am Funeral Mass. Interment will be at All Saints Cemetery in Des Plaines.
