Our sweet brother n uncle! Oh how you're going to be missed so dearly. Wish we could've spent now time but the time we had over the mangy years were so unforgettable and precious. Between getting stuck on a pontoon boat on Rend Lake n all of the cousins framing out thinking we were on a deserted island, you losing the keys after dropping dad off from who knows where y'all were coming from LOL. Ask your sarcastic remarks, including your favorite niece lol, losing eight so she can get everyone's signature tattooed, with the first one now being yours! Could go on n on. Ty for ALWAYS letting us stay with you guys with open arms n no judgement! We always felt so comfortable there. Love always n FOREVER. Glad you're no longer suffering. You fought a long hard fight! 🤞🤞🙏🙏

We met Angela and Randy when our daughter Kelly and their daughter Vanessa played softball together when we first moved to the area. Both were so friendly and welcoming that we instantly became friends. I have so many memories of Randy from his competitive nature, to drinking milk with every meal, to fixing whatever happened to be wrong with one of our cars. I will always remember when Lincoln was young and I'd bring him a birthday or Christmas present, there was Randy helping Lincoln unwrap, unbox, put together and help play with whatever the gift was. Randy was a very special person, we are so sorry to lose him so soon.

We met Randy and Angela many years ago during softball tryouts for his daughter Vanessa. Vanessa made the team as our star pitcher in no small part to Randy’s tutoring. As we got to know Randy that year it became apparent that the Chicago sports scene was a big part of Randy’s life. He was fan of every team, especially the Blackhawks ( I remember years later my wife and I were passing a restaurant which was having a grand opening and had two retired Blackhawk players there so we had to go in just to get a signed photo for Randy’s 50th B-day which was coming up). As that softball season progressed we all became friends which have lasted through the many years. I will always remember Randy’s passion for sports and competition whether it was watching pro sports on the TV or playing bean bag toss (for hours) in the driveway or the front lawn at picnics and cookouts. Over the years I recognized his intensity, and sometimes endless revelry for this part of his life that he loved. Yet it would be unwise to assume it was just that, a sporting thing. The truth is that Randy was knowledgeable and intuitive about sports (as in automobiles) and he used this to connect to people. He wanted nothing more than to help others succeed and he would spend hours with them. I remember once we were playing bean bag toss and a young kid was having trouble throwing the bags so Randy teamed up with him and coached him in how to put the perfect arc on the toss and how to perfect his release point. Another moment I will always remember was the time he was helping one of the girls on the softball team with her batting. He was slow pitching to her and giving her pointers and he got a little to close and she squarely hit a line drive which… well let me just say Randy was on the ground for a few minutes but he got back up and worked with her for another 15 minutes. From perfect strangers to his own precious grandkids he was someone who wanted to help others succeed, to guide and mentor them. Even though at times he could be impatient he spent a great deal of time doing this because something deep within him wanted to help others. Yes he was a huge sports fan but more than that he was a fan of family and friends and he could not look the other way when someone was struggling. This empathy was his greatest gift and I hope we all remember that so we can take that forward, It would make Randy smile. Peter and Nancy Ichinose
