Richard "Dick" Diener was born on February 16, 1929 in Middlebury, Indiana to Joel and Ruth (nee Ditzenberger) Diener. He died Tuesday, November 26, 2019 at JourneyCare in Arlington Heights, Illinois.
Dick had a life-long career as an Optical Engineer, retiring in 1999. His work included developing lenses for NASA.
An avid investor, Dick enjoyed reading The Wall Street Journal. His interests and hobbies included computer programming and growing orchids. He was a car enthusiast and a wonderful storyteller.
Dick is survived by his children Teri Chakuno, Sheila (Edwin) Brown, Becky Latham and Joelene (John) Cochrane; his 13 grandchildren: Alicia (Sage), Georgette (Scott), Eric (Erin), Richard, Max, Stevie Ann (Dion), Sam, Kelly (Amol), Lindsey, Duane (Paige), Kyler, Evan and Andrew; and his 8 great-grandchildren: Caleigh, Mason, Ethan, Asha, Mira, Katie, Patrick, and Kodi.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years Dorothy Diener (nee Bass); his parents; his son Richard Diener as well as his daughter Linda Banes.
Visitation Wednesday, December 4, 2019 from 10:00 am until time of Funeral Mass at 11:00 am, Wednesday, December 4, 2019 at Addolorata Villa - Our Lady of Sorrows Chapel, 555 McHenry Road, Wheeling, IL 60090. Interment will take place privately.
