Richard B. Carpenter Jr. 61 passed away on April 22, 2024 in Highland Park, Illinois. He was born on June 22, 1962 in Park Ridge, Illinois.
Richie was a graduate from Arlington High School Class of 1980. Richie worked for 30 years at Michael Wagner and Son's Plumbing. He enjoyed working in a family business and felt like one of their own. He was a proud father to his 3 kids and took joy in seeing all their accomplishments academically and athletically. He was especially excited watching his son Zack win the CABA world series home run derby at 12 years old. Richie was a well accomplished baseball player in his early years and played through college. In his spare time, he was an avid sports fan and never would decline an offer to go to the horse races day or night. He was a lifelong Cubs fan and suffered through many Cubs collapses throughout the years and reached the pinnacle of a Cubs fan when the Cubs raised the World Series flag in 2016. He had a deep faith in the lord and prayed the rosary daily.
Richie was diagnosed at the age of 18 with manic depressive/bipolar disorder and fought this battle his entire life.
He is survived by his former wife Kris Carpenter and children Zachary (Taryn) Carpenter, Kloe Carpenter and Kacey Carpenter; his grandchildren Kooper and Kamryn Carpenter, his siblings Deborah Grant (Dick), Jay (Sheila) Carpenter, Rachel (Eric) Ponce and Michelle Carpenter, his Stepmother Kimberly Carpenter, and many Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews and dear friends.
Richard is preceded in death by his parents Richard B. Carpenter Sr. and Judith B. (Jack) Martin.
A committal service will take place on Tuesday, April 30, 2024 at 2 PM at All Saints Cemetery, Des Plaines, Illinois. A celebration of Richie's life will take place at Eddie's Restaurant, 10 E Northwest Hwy, Arlington Heights, IL after the committal service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Richie's name to NAMI - National Alliance of Mental Illness (namiillinois.org) or to the family to offset burial expenses.
