Richard Koscielak was born on November 25, 1946 to Walter and Virginia Koscielak. After Richard graduated from Evanston Township High School in 1964 he joined the United States Navy. While in the Navy, Richard spent his time on the Navy Destroyer Goodrich where he learned valuable skills that would benefit him throughout his life. In 1977 Richard earned as Associates degree from Harper College.
In 1968 Richard met Maureen Bonneville who he would go on to marry on May 23, 1970. Richard and Maureen went on to have three children: Scott, Steven, and Todd.
Richard was a very skilled electrician and business owner for some time. It was during his time as a business owner that Richard shared his skills and knowledge with his children. Richard would take his children to job sites on the weekends where he would teach them skills and craft of being an electrician. More than that Richard taught his children discipline, responsibility, and the importance of completing a job. Skills we all know his children are using today. Richard ended his career in the electrical field working at the World Headquarters for United Airlines.
After retirement Richard got into woodworking. He started out by making pens but quickly moved up to making furniture like desks and bookcases. Richard even made bassinets for his grandchildren which brought him great pleasure and joy.
Richard was predeceased by his father Walter Koscielak, mother Virginia Koscielak, and sister Patricia Blazak. Richard is survived by his wife Maureen Koscielak, sons Scott (wife Gina), Steven (wife Jane), Todd (wife Kim) and his brother George Koscielak. Loving grandfather of Conner, Chloe, Jack, Emma, Quinn, Dawn, and William.
One of Richard’s favorite sayings was “I’ll pencil you in.” So we’re sure he is looking down on us penciling in the date when we will see him again.
