Richard John Schweigel was born on September 20, 1932, in Chicago, Illinois to John and Matilda Schweigel. He died Sunday, November 14, 2021, at Harbor House Memory Care in Wheeling, Illinois.
By day Mr. Schweigel worked as a lithographer. By night he was a passionate saxophonist with his band the Keytones, playing at many weddings, church functions, and other venues. He was a member of the Chicago American Legion Post #1009, Des Plaines Elks, and Glenview United Masonic Lodge #1058 and was an avid golfer.
Richard is survived by his wife of 23 years, Charlene nee Kolbe; daughter, Paula Porras; daughter-in-law, Penny Schweigel; step-daughters, Kimberly (David) Bjorvik and Dawn (Cassandra) Fendt; grandchildren, Vanessa German, Stephanie Schweigel, Steven Villalobos, Timothy Schweigel, and Brandon Villalobos; step-granddaughters, Erin and Kate Bjorvik; five great-grandchildren; his sister, Joan Obergfell; and his sister-in-law Dyann Schweigel.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Vera; his son, Richard W.; his parents; his brother, Robert Schweigel; and his brother-in-law, Alan.
Visitation from Noon pm until time of funeral service at 2:00 pm, Monday, November 22, 2021, at the Glueckert Funeral Home Ltd., 1520 North Arlington Heights Road, Arlington Heights, Illinois. Interment private.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Our Redeemer Lutheran Church 304 W. Palatine Road, Prospect Heights, IL 60070, or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
