

Rita Hofer (Bolda), 95, passed away on February 14, 2024 in St. Louis, Missouri. She resided at the Bethesda, Orchard since 2013. Rita was born on November 10, 1928 in Chicago, IL, to Paul and Nell Bolda (Czerwinski)
She attended Avondale middle school thru 1942 and Carl Schurz High School in Chicago, IL thru 1946.
Rita married John A Hofer on June 18, 1949 in Chicago, IL. The couple had 2 children, Christine M Hofer and John A Hofer, Jr.
Rita lived in Arlington Heights and was a Saint Edna's parishioner for many years. She was an executive secretary for 20+ years and after retirement enjoyed working part time at Sylvia's florist in Arlington Heights, where she loved the people, plants and flowers. Rita was best known for her love of travel, style and sassy sense of humor. A child of the great depression, married an Army man after WWII and raised two children. She learned how to stay strong and resilient after the death of her daughter Christine in 1980, continuing to raise her granddaughter, Amy.
Rita is survived by Amy Herman (Jacobsen) - granddaughter, John Hofer, Jr. - son, Meredythe Bolda-sister-in-law, Carol(Bob) Gillengerten-first cousin. "Aunt Rita" is admired and loved by many Bolda and Hofer Nieces and Nephews.
She is preceded in death by Paul Bolda - father, Nell Bolda - mother, Ronald Bolda-brother, Ken Bolda-brother, Aunt Trudy- "her special mom". and her beloved daughter, Christine Jacobsen (Hofer).
The service for Rita Hofer will be held on Tuesday, at 11:00 AM at Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd. One Chapel.
Visitation: Tuesday, at 9:00 AM at Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd.
Burial: All Saints Cemetery, Des Plaines, IL.
Memorial donations can be made in Rita's name to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
