Robert C. Bowman

Of Arlington Heights

Robert was born on December 27, 1934 in Chicago, Illinois to Cecil and Stella Bowman. He died Friday, December 8, 2017 at home in Arlington Heights.

Bob was a Korean War veteran and worked as a commercial artist. He taught at the Chicago Academy of Art and was an award winning Art Director for the Bradford Exchange until his retirement. Bob freelanced throughout his career as a cartoonist and caricaturist and was a member of the National Caricature Network. In his free time he enjoyed golf, racquet ball and was an avid movie buff.

Bob was a loving husband, father and grandfather and is survived by his wife, Paula (nee LaRussa) Bowman; children Robert (Gabrielle) Bowman and Tracy (Russell) Zemla; grandchildren, Gavin Zemla, Catherine Bowman, and Jennifer Bowman; sister, Candace (Randy) Myers; nieces and nephew, Meagan Myers, Craig Myers, Kim (Aseem) Mital, and Kris Bowman.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Richard William (the late Lynn) Bowman, his parents and stepmother Agnes.

Memorial visitation from 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm, Thursday, December 14, 2017 at Glueckert Funeral Home Ltd., 1520 North Arlington Heights Rd. (4 blocks south of Palatine Rd.), Arlington Heights, there will be a Funeral Mass 10:00 am, Friday, December 15, 2017 at St. Edna Catholic Church, 2525 N. Arlington Heights Rd., Arlington Heights.
