Robert Henry Firnbach

Of Arlington Heights

Robert H. Firnbach was born on November 4, 1921 in Buffalo Grove to Andrew and Mary (nee Raupp) Firnbach. He died on Thursday, November 22, 2018 in Arlington Heights.

Robert served in the United States Army during World War II. He was very proud of his military service and was an active member of VFW #981 in Arlington Heights. He was grateful for the opportunity to participate with other veterans on an Honor Flight to Washington D.C.

Robert was co-owner of AJ Firnbach and Sons in Buffalo Grove. He was a member of St. James Catholic Church in Arlington Heights. Robert enjoyed Chicago sports and was an avid Cubs fan. Robert volunteered for many years at the North Chicago Veterans Hospital. He loved to spend time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and was loved by all.

Robert is survived by his children, Joan (the late Jay) Burger, Shirley (John) Stabler, Steven (Jenny) Firnbach, David Firnbach, and daughter-in-law, DeAnn Firnbach; grandchildren, Kurt Burger, Renee Burger, Sarah (Dan) Cordis, Cody (Ashlee) Stabler, Jason Firnbach, Nicole (Kyle) Bruns, Krista (Eric) Marofske, Laura (Don) Jones, Jordan Firnbach, Kelly Firnbach, and Kasey Firnbach; great-grandchildren, Elin Jones, Claire Cordis, and Oliver Stabler; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy (nee Brehm); son, Donald Firnbach; his parents; siblings, Eleanor Firnbach, Helen Firnbach, Joseph (Irene) Firnbach, and Richard Firnbach.

Visitation is Tuesday, November 27, 2018 from 8:30 a.m. until the 10:15 a.m. prayers at Glueckert Funeral Home Ltd., 1520 North Arlington Heights Road (4 blocks south of Palatine Road), Arlington Heights, IL 60004 proceeding to St. Mary Parish, 10 North Buffalo Grove Road, Buffalo Grove, IL 60089 for an 11:00 a.m. Funeral Mass. Interment will be at St. Mary Parish Cemetery in Buffalo Grove.
