Ronald served as a Corporal in the United States Army during the Korean War and obtained several service medals during his time in the army.
After his time in the army, he worked for the US Postal service in Colorado. In 1961, he packed up his family and moved to Illinois to be an electrician with two of his brothers. In 1998, he retired as an electrician from IBEW local 134.
He was known by his family as a fixer; whatever the problem was, he was able to figure out how to fix it, he was a true MacGyver. In recent years due to having bad knees; he rigged up his John Deere tractor with forks to take his garbage cans out to the street & back. Even though he had a lawn service, when a mower broke down, he helped them repair it on site. He had a habit of providing the landscape crew with goodie bags containing pop and snacks.
His daughter gave him the nickname DOM and he called her his Teenybopper.
He had an awesome sense of humor and loved playing with all the telemarketers that called. He would change up his voice, pretend to be hard of hearing or speak in Japanese. He even pranked his daughter in law Dawn, by pretending to be an AC repairman for the beach house they had rented, telling her they can’t come out for 2 weeks to repair it.
Ronald stayed active during his retirement. His wisdom, ability to think outside the box and sense of humor will be dearly missed.
