Rudolph " Rudy" Harry Umlauf was born on April 7, 1935, in Chicago, Illinois to Rudolph and Claire (nee Gleave) Umlauf. He died Sunday, December 6, 2020, at Church Creek Healthcare Center, Arlington Heights.
Mr. Umlauf was employed by Independent Mechanical Industries, of Chicago for over 50 years and was an executive vice president at the time of his retirement. He served as a deacon in his church and also had other responsibilities. Rudolph served his community by instigating a special election and creating a private sanitary district for the homeowners in, what was at that time, unincorporated Prospect Heights. He was actively involved in school activities with his children and grandchildren. He served in the US Army from 1956 to 1958.
Rudolph is survived by his loving and beloved wife of 62 years, Betty Catherine nee Silhan; his children, James (Tammy) Umlauf, Catherine (Thomas) Schulz, and John (Sarah) Umlauf; his grandchildren Nik, Abigail (Nathon) Lungu, Amanda, Matthew, Joshua, Jessica and John; his siblings David (Kathleen) Umlauf, Claudia (Richard) Weber, and Gerhardt (Karen) Umlauf; and his numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Aaron.
Funeral service and interment are private for immediate family only.
