Salvatore "Tatiddu" Grana was born on December 5, 1930, in Sicily, Italy to Mariano and Apollonia (nee Manfré) Grana. He passed peacefully surrounded by his family on Friday, February 19, 2021, at his home.Before retiring Mr. Grana was a truck driver for Gonnella Baking Co. for over 12 years, formerly with Leaf Candy Co. for five years and had been employed with Williams Electronics. Salvatore was the former owner of Domenick's Deli in Arlington Hts. He was a member of Teamsters Local #734. In his spare time Salvatore enjoyed gardening and baking. He was a talented chef who loved to cook & eat.
Salvatore is survived by his wife, Antonia nee D’Ugo; his children Mariano (Cindy) Grana, Christina M. (Vincenzo) Greco, Domenick (Kim) Grana, and Giuseppe (Michelle) Grana; his grandchildren, Anthony S. (Paulina) Grana, Enrico (Caitlin) Greco, Rosaria (Bradley) Greco-Loudon, Brittany M. Grana, Salvatore E. Grana, Domenic J. Grana, Joseph W. Grana, and Nicholas S. Grana; his three brothers, four sisters, and many nieces, and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Anna and Domenico D’Ugo. Visitation from 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm, Thursday, February 25, 2021, at Glueckert Funeral Home Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Road, Arlington Heights, Illinois. Face masks are required, social distancing and capacity limits (50) are in effect. Guests should prepare to wait outside for entry. Due to COVID restrictions, Funeral Mass is private.
