Scott Wilson, 65, passed away at his home on May 8th. Born on February 27, 1961, in Kansas City, Missouri, Scott lived a life defined by connection, kindness, and a deep appreciation for the world around him.
He spent many years working at the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, where he built lasting relationships and earned the respect of colleagues who admired his work ethic and steady presence. Outside of work, he found joy in nature — camping in his younger years, exploring the mountains, and seeking out quiet places where he could breathe deeply and feel at home.
What made Scott truly unforgettable was the way he connected with people. He loved to talk and share stories and tell a good joke. He had a warm, personable way of making others feel seen and valued, always taking time for anyone who needed a listening ear or a moment of kindness. To those who knew him, he was a steady, loving presence — a wonderful son, a devoted father and grandfather, and a caring brother.
Scott is survived by his mother, Dorothy; his wife, Michelle; his daughters, Claire (her husband, Jesus Ruiz) and Emma; his grandchildren, Julian and Sophia Ruiz; his sister-in-law, Melissa; and his nephew, Ian. He was preceded in death by his brother, Brian.
Scott’s legacy lives on in the stories he told, the laughter he shared, and the love he gave so freely. His family will carry his memory forward with gratitude for the years they had with him and the countless ways he made their lives brighter.
He will be deeply missed and forever loved.
A memorial visitation will be held on Friday, May 15, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Glueckert Funeral Home, 1520 N. Arlington Heights Road, Arlington Heights, Illinois.
