Of Arlington Heights
Susan Marie Preissing was born on March 24, 1965, in Evanston, Illinois to Robert and Marilyn (nee Anderson) Gorski. She died Friday, May 14, 2021, at the University of Wisconsin Hospital in Madison, Wisconsin.
Susan had a highly respected and successful career in insurance underwriting, with ever-increasing responsibilities from her time at American Family to Vice President of Commercial Lines at The Rockwood Company. Susan excelled in her leadership roles, all while earning many certifications including CPCU, MLIS, ARM, and AAI.
Education and learning were life-long passions for Susan. Susan was a graduate of Indiana University, Class of 1987, and Arlington High School, Class of 1983. "Once a Cardinal, Always a Cardinal." She served 12 years on the Arlington Heights District 25 School Board, taught religious education, and tutored young children in English. A dedicated sister of Alpha Delta Pi sorority, Sue served as an International Officer as the Housing Resource Director. Sue loved books of all kinds and was a voracious reader. The house and her e-book were filled with thousands of books, in every nook, closet, shelf, and drawer. Book club was one of her favorite activities when she had time. Not only was Susan an avid reader, but she also loved math, puzzles, games, coffee, Venetian masks, and nothing more than a Family Game night with her kids at home. Her dogs brought Sue so much joy; Pepper, Alfie, and Scout and the family dogs, Soto and Dundee, were always on her mind and in her heart. Susan treasured her time with family more than any else in the world; she gave everything for the family and lived her life for her kids’ happiness.
Susan is survived by her husband, Joseph Preissing; her children, Andrew, Alison, and Alexander Preissing; her parents, Robert, and Marilyn Gorski; her sister, Roberta (Robert) Holden; her many nieces and nephews; and the family dogs, Pepper, Soto, Scout, Alfie, and Dundee.
