Thomas Ciemniak was born in Arlington Heights, IL to Agata Ciemniak and Walter Ciemniak on January 31st, 1995. He passed away February 4, 2022. Thomas is survived by his mother, Agata Ciemniak and his sister Nicole Ciemniak. He was preceded in death by his father, Walter Ciemniak.
He attended Rolling Meadows High School and was actively involved in Marching Band, Symphonic and Jazz Band, as well as Soccer, Swimming, Tennis and Math Team. He graduated from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a degree in Computer Science. After graduating, Tommy worked as a Software Engineer for Capital One.
He was an incredibly kind, patient and gentle person who was loved deeply by his friends and family. He made it a priority to support his loved ones when they needed him, and always showed up with joy, compassion, and playfulness. He was slow to anger or become frustrated, and was amazing at resolving conflict and peacemaking between others. He was so good at seeing everyone’s perspective and looking at every situation from a bird’s eye view. He was a great listener and had a knack for seeing the light in the darkness. You could always count on him to encourage you when you wanted to try something new or were struggling with fear and doubt.
He loved playing board games and going on adventures, as well as teaching and helping others solve complex issues. We were always blown away by how easily he solved logic and math problems – he was the most formidable opponent in any game that required logic and memory, despite him giving the rest of us tips and tricks on how to play smarter.
We all have amazing memories of him that we cherish, memories that fill us with love and gratitude. He was a blessing, a human that taught us how to believe in ourselves, how to play and laugh and be free, and how to care for each other. We will carry him with us forever.
Memorial visitation was held on Saturday, February 19, 2022, from 10:30 am until time of memorial service at 12:00 pm, at Willow Creek Community Church Chapel B, 67 Algonquin Road, South Barrington, Illinois.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to National Park Foundation (www.nationalparks.org), or your favorite charity.
