Thomas L. Tom was born on July 6, 1948, in Chicago to Dew and Sophia (nee Moy) Tom. He passed away Sunday, April 10, 2022.

Tom enjoyed his banking days, his bartending and restaurant days, as well as his time at Costco and driving for Hertz. Tom loved going on fishing trips, playing cards, telling funny stories, and good food! His love for driving led to many spontaneous road trips with his family and more recently, his road trips to Canada and to the East Coast with his wife. He loved to spend time with his family, especially his grandchildren and was loved by all.

Thomas is survived by his spouse of 46 years, Meiyu "May” (nee Chan); his children, Therese (Alan) Au, Janette (Jason) VandeWettering, and Richard (Natalie) Tom; his grandchildren, Ashley Au, Collin Au, Aubrey Tom, David VandeWettering, Anna VandeWettering; his siblings, Shirley Hansen, Selena Qui and Judy Tom; his many nieces and nephews; his mother-in-law, Wai Shan Chan; his sisters-in-law, Katherlina (Joseph) Chin, Grace (David) Peng, and Tina (Bernard) Fornadley; and his brother-in-law, Eric (Caroline) Chan.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and father-in-law, Wai Chan.

Visitation will be on Monday, April 18, 2022, from 10:00 am until the time of Funeral Service at 12:00 pm at the Glueckert Funeral Home Ltd., 1520 North Arlington Heights Road (four blocks south of Palatine Road), Arlington Heights, IL 60004. Interment is private.
