Thomas Harold Wiebe

Thomas Harold Wiebe was born on November 28, 1931 in Chicago, Illinois to Richard William Wiebe and Agnes (nee Mika) Wiebe. He died Monday, December 25, 2017, at Church Creek Healthcare Center in Arlington Heights.

Mr. Wiebe worked for Canteen Corporation for 40 years before retiring as Staff VP/Facilities Design. He served in the Marine Corps during the Korean War, and volunteered for over 20 years at Northwest Community Hospital.

Thomas is survived by his wife of 60 years, Viola (nee Swanson) Wiebe; his children, Eric (Dawn) Wiebe, Kurt (Karen) Wiebe, and Brianna Gulley (Sean) Hudson; his grandchildren, Alexsondra Gulley, Nicolas Gulley, Tristyn Hudson, Kyle (Megan) Wiebe, Trevor Wiebe, PFC Connor Wiebe, Sam Wiebe, Jack Wiebe, and Sydney Wiebe; and his sisters-in-law Ingrid Wiebe and Mary Lou Wiebe.

The Wiebe family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the Church Creek Family, Dr. Papa, Dr. Rivera and Heartland Hospice for the loving and dedicated care shown Tom.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings, Joseph Wiebe, Richard Wiebe, Lucille Hill, Irene Sauer, Arthur Wiebe; nieces Diana Vesely and Nancy Ketvertis.

Visitation from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm, Thursday, December 28, 2017 at Glueckert Funeral Home Ltd., 1520 North Arlington Heights Road, Arlington Heights, Illinois and Friday, December 29, 2017 from 9:00 am until time of funeral service at 10:00 am, at Grace Lutheran Church, 1624 E. Euclid Ave., Mount Prospect, Illinois 60056. Burial at Arlington Heights Wheeling Township.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to Alzheimer’s Association of Greater Chicago, 8430 W. Bryn Mawr, Suite 800, Chicago, IL, 60631 or to Grace Lutheran Church.
