

Virginia Rose Koziol Chiappetta, affectionately known to most as “Sippi”, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, at the age of 90. She was a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend whose faith and generous spirit touched many who knew her.
Sippi was born in Chicago, Illinois, on June 19, 1935 to the late Stanley and Josephine Koziol. She was a devoted student and member of Saint Stanislaus Bishop & Martyr Catholic Church. Alongside her beloved husband, the late Edward “Eddie” Chiappetta, they raised their five children in Chicago until 1972, when the family moved to Arlington Heights, Illinois.
In Arlington Heights, Sippi and Eddie became fixtures in the Saint James Catholic Church community, as well as the Knights of Columbus and the Women’s Auxiliary. At Saint James, Sippi served as Eucharistic Minister, Bereavement Minister, and helped bring joy to the parish by producing Saint James plays.
Sippi was preceded in death by her loving husband, Eddie Chiappetta; her sisters, Gertrude (the late Casey) Grendzinski and Joan O’Grady; brother, Edward Koziol; son-in-law, Jeff Butler; granddaughter, Alice Grzesiak; and great-grandson, Benny Laws, Jr..
She is survived by her brother-in-law, James O’Grady, and her children:
JoEllen (Guy) Bedow, Michael (Gina) Chiappetta, Judi Rodell, Michael (Beth) Rodell, Janice Butler, Jill (Greg Swisher) Chiappetta
Her legacy continues through her grandchildren:
Ashley (Shawn Luschei) Bedow, Brent (Kim) Bedow, Jenna (Ben) Laws, Matthew (Jennifer) Chiappetta, Kaylee Knorr, Emily (Matthew Edmonds) Butler, Adam (Rachel) Butler, and Hope (Christian Villa) Rodell
And her beloved great-grandchildren:
Mason Bedow-Bielski, Kenzie Hastings, Gavin Hastings, Aubrey Bedow, Hudson Bedow, Remy Bedow, Ellie Laws, Mia Laws, Anna Laws, Maddie Chiappetta, and Byron Chiappetta
And numerous nieces & nephews.
Sippi’s life was marked by deep faith and a commitment to serving others. Her love of dancing, particularly with Eddie, as well as her fondness for Polish and Italian music, her smile, beautiful eyes, and spunk, will be deeply missed.
