Of Des Plaines
Walter “Bud” Herbert Hall was born April 8, 1928 in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada to Victor and Gladys (nee Jolly) Hall. God called him to his Heavenly Home on Tuesday, November 26, 2019.
Bud worked for many years as a delivery driver for Marshall Fields and as a water meter reader for the Village of Wilmette; he retired from his Village job in 1998.
Bud was a Christ follower. Wanting to be involved in the ministries God called him to, he served in multiple roles at Jefferson Park Bible Church (which became Jefferson Park Evangelical Free Church and then New Life Community Church). He was a deacon, elder, Chairman of the elder board, and leader (with Dorothy) of the college and career age group. He was also an usher and greeter, which suited him well in that he had a genuine interest in people; he was engaging and welcoming to everyone.
Bud loved being active, maintaining his home both inside and out and frequently helping his neighbors. He enjoyed meeting friends at the local Dunkin’ Donuts or having breakfast with his “Jeff Park” friends. He truly loved his wife and family, especially being Grandpa to his grandkids. He also thoroughly enjoyed spending time in the Northwoods in Phelps, Wisconsin. Most important of all, however, he loved and served the Lord his God faithfully.
Bud is survived by his wife of seventy years Dorothy Frances (nee Dunham) Hall; his children Rick (Cindy) Hall and Sharon (Mark) Daniels; his grandchildren Steve (Andrea), Jon (Jessica) and Tim Hall, Kristen and Kevin Daniels; his great-grandchildren Micah, Dylan, Natalie, Lydia, Noah and Levi, and by his close friends Dan and Bev Stoklosa and their son, Jeremy.
Visitation with the family will be held at 9:30 a.m. with a memorial service celebrating Bud’s life to follow at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 18, 2020, at The Orchard Evangelical Free Church, 1330 North Douglas Avenue, Arlington Heights, IL 60004.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to The Orchard Evangelical Free Church.
