Walter C. Schlamp

Walter (Walt) C. Schlamp, age 77, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, March 23, 2021, He was born on May 14, 1943, in New York, New York to Alan and Lydia (nee Guenther) Schlamp.

Walt began his career shortly after leaving the army in 1966, taking a job with United Airlines as a weather clerk. He worked his way up the ranks to finish his career in management. He retired in November 2001. During his time at United, his was transferred in 1985 from his beloved New York to the suburbs of Chicago, where he worked at United's EXO facility in Elk Grove. He moved his wife and three children to Arlington Heights, where he called home for 36 years. Walt loved baseball especially the Brooklyn Dodgers before becoming a New York Mets fan after the Dodgers left for LA. He loved reminiscing about the 1969 and 1986 World Series Champion Mets. He also liked to travel, his annual trip to Saratoga with his high school buddies was one of his favorites. He loved spending time with his wife Regina, his 3 kids, and 5 grandchildren. Walt had a larger-than-life personality. He made people laugh and made them feel special, he will be dearly missed.

Walter is survived by his loving wife of 49 ½ years, Regina Schlamp (nee Fehrenbach); his children Jonathan (Candice) Schlamp, Michael (Jessica) Schlamp, and Jennifer (Brian) Goelz. and his two sisters Barbara (Gary) Theimann and Christine Schlamp and 5 grandchildren: Lillian Schlamp, Lauren Goelz, Damon Schlamp, Oliver Schlamp and Charlotte Schlamp.

He was preceded in death by his mother Lydia Schlamp (1985), father Alan Schlamp (2001), and brother Alan Schlamp Junior (1987).

Visitation from 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm, Thursday, March 25, 2021, at Glueckert Funeral Home Ltd., 1520 North Arlington Heights Road, Arlington Heights, Illinois. Face masks are required, social distancing and capacity limits (25) are in effect. Guests should prepare to wait outside for entry.
