Wayne Carter

Wayne Carter, age 74, passed away peacefully on December 31, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Wayne was born September 13, 1951 in Berwyn to the late JD and Virginia (née Dudek) Carter. He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps and was a Vietnam veteran.

Following his military service, Wayne dedicated over 30 years to the Chicago Fire Department, retiring as a Fire Lieutenant. The fire department was an incredibly important part of his life, and he took great pride in his service and the brotherhood it brought him.

Wayne lived life with adventure and enthusiasm. He was an avid traveler who loved skiing, snorkeling in beautiful waters, cruising throughout Europe, and spending unforgettable time in Hawaii with the love of his life, Debbie.

Wayne is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years, Debbie (née Penninos); his loving daughter, Michelle (Thomas) Banholzer; and his cherished grandchildren, Carter, Matthew, and Nyla Banholzer. He was the dear brother of the late Ronald (Francine) Carter and Jeff (Chrysallis) Carter, and a fond uncle to many.

A memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, January 10, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the memorial service at 12:00 p.m. at Glueckert Funeral Home, 1520 N. Arlington Heights Rd., Arlington Heights, IL 60004.
