William D. Kruser, Sr. was born on November 22, 1943, in Chicago, Illinois to Edwin and Emilie (nee Hardt) Kruser. He died Wednesday, July 21, 2021, at ManorCare of Arlington Heights, Arlington Heights.
Mr. Kruser was an insurance claims adjuster for over 49 years and was president of Images by David Kay, Ltd. featuring photos from around Chicago but especially the backroads of Illinois, Wisconsin, Iowa, Indiana, and Michigan.
Bill loved photography, especially black and white photos. He loved taking pictures using film and developing the negatives himself in fellow photographer Walter's darkroom. He loved traveling the 2 lane highways and backroads, to find cities and towns that had been abandoned, he always wanted to travel Route 66 from Chicago to California.
A dedicated resident of Arlington Heights, Bill volunteered for National Night Out, Frontier Days, Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony at Memorial Park, the Arlington Heights Garden, and House Walk just to name a few. Bill was also a member of the Veterans Memorial Committee who attended countless veteran events such as the annual Memorial Day Parade and the annual Veterans Day Breakfast, and the Arlington Heights Art Commission. Additionally, he was a founding coordinator of the Volunteers in Police Service (VIPS), a group of citizens that help the police department with community events. In later years and as a member of the Arlington Camera Club he would take the photos from the many events he attended and make beautiful slide shows set to music. In 2016 Bill was awarded the Ken M. Bonder Beautification Heart of Gold Award by the Arlington Heights Special Events Commission
In his spare time, Bill was an N Scale model railroad enthusiast.
He is survived by his wife of over 40 years, Esther M. nee Wall, his special niece, Karen (Dave) Cordon, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his son, Brian David Kruser, Father, Edwin Kruser, Mother, Emilie Kruser, Brother, Edward Kruser, Sister, Florence Peterson.
