William Renner, longtime resident of Arlington Heights, passed away peacefully on February 23, 2026. Born in 1935 in Lentschow, Germany to the late Wilhelm Renner and the late Bernadina Maria Pieper. He is survived by brother Bernhard (Hille) Renner and sister Erika (Bernd) Zeppmeisel. William found his match in Marie Loretta Renner and they spent 65 wonderful years together until her passing in April 2025. Known as Bill to many, he was a pipefitter and business owner by occupation who carved an incredible life for his family with his unending work ethics.
Bill was a devoted father to Suzanne (Jim Vana) Renner, William (Nora) Renner, Maria (Joseph Viereckl) Renner, and Annette (Steve) Terzic. William’s legacy continued to grow with the joys of being the proud Opa to Peter (Maria) Brask, Daniel (Paige Snow) Brask, Erica (Sam Tallidis) Brask, Ellen (Todd) Homan, Emily (Ben Keller) Terzic, Marcus (Kenzie Hume) Viereckl, Maggie Terzic, Annie Terzic, Madeline Renner, Mary Renner, and Michael Renner. His eleven grandchildren were close to his heart and Lori and Bill were present and supportive of all of their lives. He was a strength for each of them that they could always count on.
His nurturing love will forever be cherished by his great-grandchildren, Piper Homan, Khoi Brask, and Cora Homan.
Bill’s devotion to family extended to his sister-in-law, Barbara (the late Alfred) Mayer, brother-in-law the late Reverend Michael J. Fritzen. This extended to his cherished nieces and nephews Rosemarie, Michael, Elizabeth and Tom and to their families.
Bill had a strong faith and love of the power of nature. His time spent at his home in Wisconsin brought him immeasurable joy and happiness with Lori and his family and friends. He also found great solace in his work up north reflecting on the beauty around him. His quiet presence was a rock that his family could always stand upon. Bill found comfort and strength in the woods and lake. He found his solace and peace in his home Up North. Spending time on his boats, snow-mobiling with family and friends and hunting trips with his crew were his constant joy. There wasn't anything he couldn't fix and his creativity was boundless as was his love of potatoes.
Bill was a devoted member of the Catholic Kolping Society of Chicago. Bill’s involvement with the St. James Catholic Church since 1968 reflected his dedication to his community and his belief in service. Bill and Loretta’s involvement in these organizations created lasting relationships and most dear friendships. He enjoyed the great celebrations with these friends that shaped their lives.
As we say goodbye, we will carry his wisdom and unconditional love for his family in each of us. His quiet presence and warm smile was a power that he held with all that loved him.
