Christ. She was born on September 21st, 1948 to the late Ferdinand and Olga Alleyne of
Guyana, South America.
She was affectionately known as “Doll”/Mommy and Aunty Audrey. She was the youngest of her
5 siblings: John Ferdinand Remington Alleyne and Mrs. Shirley Toppin who reside in England,
Mrs. Yvonne Joseph Alleyne (Deceased in Antigua), Ms. Lynette Alleyne, and her twin sister,
Claudette Hendy (both deceased in New York).
She received her early education at Bedford Methodist School, a Primary School in Guyana,
South America. While she did not have a U.S. education, she surely had a PHD in knowing Jesus!
She often spoke about how she was “introduced to the Holy Spirit” through watching Kathryn
Kuhlman speak, and had her first encounter with the Holy Spirit when she was 25 years old.
Audrey migrated to the United States of America in the late 60’s where she did domestic work &
helped care for the children of the Shlesinger family. This was the family who sponsored her to
become a citizen here in the U.S. In the mid to late 70’s she worked at Gimbles Brothers &
Macy’s as an Order Checker, supporting the Buyers in the Procurement department. During this
time, she developed her affinity for nice clothes, was very much known to be the “Glamor Girl”
of the family, and was also introduced to Clement O. Garnett Jr.
In 1977, she married Clement and his job relocated them to Arlington, Texas. Audrey moved to
Arlington, TX in 1980 and they purchased their first home in 1981. She was excited to establish a
home & help build a family “Deep in the heart of Texas.” Audrey was the mother of Travis &
Tami Garnett, and she would mention raising her children as one of her biggest
accomplishments. Her greatest gift to her children was to nurture them in understanding who
God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit were…as they grew from toddlers into teenagers, she took her
role of leading family prayer time very seriously.
From 1980-1999, Audrey worked for the Eastern Star Home as a Nurses Aid, and took pride in
sharing the love of Jesus with the women that she genuinely cared for who lived there. From
1999 to 2015 she served as a Patient Care Technician, working the night shift, for the Medical
Center of Arlington for 16 years. Here she received several “Employee of the Month” awards,
and was honored for 15 years of dedicated service before going into retirement. Audrey’s career
was not only a vehicle to provide for her family, but it was also one to share minister to the
patients she served. She changed, bathed, and cared for patients that were recovering from
various illnesses, and while doing this she shared the love of God and never hesitated to take
the opportunity to pray for someone. Audrey was also a faithful member at Shady Grove Church
in Grand Prairie, now Gateway Church of Grand Prairie, Texas.
Audrey became a powerful prayer warrior & intercessor in the army of the Lord, and her
favorite thing to do was tune into Christian TV, go to a Christian conference, fellowship with
other believers, along with doing some of the other things she enjoyed like watching cooking
shows, watching sporting events, cooking, singing, and shopping. She was ambitious and
courageous when it came to her travels and achieving her dreams of wanting to secure her
legacy for her children & family. You could always depend on Audrey for prayer or a word from
the Lord.
Audrey leaves to mourn her brother Remington, her sister Shirley; her son Travis, and her
Daughter Tami and her Wife/Life Partner Shay; her nephew Shelwyn & his Wife Melissa and
their family, her nephew Corwin and his family, her nephew Danny, his wife & family, her nieces
