We were unable to have a memorial service for Gary at the time of his death due to circumstances out of our control, therefore we are having a joint service for both of them which the family believes was meant to be.
They married at the Potter County Courthouse in Amarillo, Texas on March 9.1978 and began their life together with Gary’s two small children. Gary was a master of any type of engine and worked at many different companies where he mastered his craft of large and small engines. Some of those companies were Bell Helicopter, Boeing, and the last being Altaquip where he enjoyed the people he worked with just as much as the work he did. Sue worked at several companies such as Affiliated Foods in the accounting and administrative offices. They worked hard and tried to maintain a stable household for the family. They enjoyed sports of all kinds. Gary played on softball teams and golf at any opportunity. Once Gary Lee started playing little league baseball, they were all in. Dad coached and Sue kept score. The family spent many weekends at the ballfield, and they are such happy memories. They followed many teams, but none more than the Texas Rangers. They were season ticket holders for many years, and they knew all the players and their stats. If you visited or called the house during a Rangers game, they were apt not to talk with you too much since they would be so focused on the game. They enjoyed college sports just as much. While living in Amarillo, they regularly went to any of the games. They would attend girls’ basketball, football, or any other games that fit into their schedule. Once they moved to the DFW Metroplex they began following TCU.
The most important thing to both of them was their grandchildren. They would do anything, at any time, to love and support them. The grandchildren brought them joy beyond measure.
Additionally, they loved their family, their home and their neighbors. They had the type of home that was welcoming for everyone. They made sure to have a front porch where everyone could hang out and eat, drink and be merry. And the yard was always the best yard on the block! Dad mowed, watered and planted in the yard continually. The neighbors all have stories of how much of a difference they made for their families.
They are preceded in death by their parents and Gary’s brother Gene Prince.
Survivors of the couple are their siblings- Bob Prince (Terry) of Broomfield, Colorado, Linda Culberson of Yazoo City, Mississippi, and Jay Crawford (Jane) of Austin, Texas. As well as their three children- Kristi Prince Moses (David) of Yokosuka, Japan, Rhonda Armer (Shannon) of Amarillo, Texas, and Gary Prince (Janie) of Snyder, Texas. They have seven grandchildren- Kraige Allen Short II of Mead, Oklahoma, Emily Hardwick of Dallas, Texas, Chris Hardwick of Great Falls, Montana, Jettie Prince of Stephenville, Texas, Kaden Prince of Stephenville, Texas, Hunter Prince of Snyder, Texas, and Eli Aquil of Yokosuka Japan. They had one great grandchild Kiera Le’ann Short.
A memorial service and celebration of life will be held at Moore Bowen Road Funeral Home (4216 S. Bowen Road, Arlington, Texas) on Saturday, June 22, 2024, at 10:00 A.M. in the Texas Room. Please come in comfortable attire and be ready to tell a memorable story about one or both of them.
Thank you,
The Prince Family
