

After graduating from Hamilton High School, go Bulldogs, he attended Texas Wesleyan University for two years. He left school to serve his country by enlisting in the United States Air Force where he served for four years. While in the Air Force, Chuck was stationed several places, the last place being Wichita, Kansas.
After his honorable discharge, Chuck joined the Wichita Police Department. While there, his heart was arrested by Malinda Shirley. They were married in 1965 and their first daughter, Julie, was born in 1967. That same year they moved to Texas and Chuck was employed at General Motors. While working second shift at General Motors, Chuck went back to Texas Wesleyan and earned a Bachelor of Science in Social Sciences in 1969. In 1970 their son, Matt, was born and then in 1971 their youngest, Jennifer was born.
Chuck retired from General Motors after 30 years, and worked for a couple of different companies as Security Chief. Once Chuck was fully retired he spent his time on the golf course, over a jigsaw puzzle, playing cards, and looking for sea shells on Sanibel Island. He loved spending time with family and friends.
Chuck is survived by his wife of 60 years, Malinda; children Julie (Tim) Smith, Matt (Cathy) Thompson, and Jennifer (Randy) Wheeler; Grandchildren Daphne (Braley), Gabe, Natalie, Abby, Reese, and Max; Brother Willie (Nancy) Thompson and many nieces and nephews.
Chuck is preceded in death by his parents Norman and Annie Thompson; brother Tommy Thompson and sister Cora Ann Kelly.
Chuck’s legacy is one of service, compassion, humor and unwavering love for his family and friends. He will be deeply missed but his spirit will live on in the countless lives he touched.
A memorial service with a reception to follow will be held at Moore Bowen Road Funeral Home, located at 4216 S. Bowen Rd., Arlington, TX 76016. The service is scheduled for January 31, 2026, starting at 11:00 am.
