Cynthia Ann Lewis “Cindy” Dake, 64, of Arlington, TX, passed away March 19, 2026. She was born in Wichita Falls, TX on January 17, 1962. She graduated from Hirschi High School, and Midwestern State University with her Bachelor of Arts in Journalism. She also received a Master of Arts in Communication from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.
She was married to Edward Finis “Eddie” Dake on December 31, 1988. Cindy was an accomplished writer/editor and worked for the Woman’s Missionary Union in Birmingham, AL as a magazine editor after working in Media a Travis Avenue Baptist Church in Fort Worth and KCBI Radio in Arlington.
She was a faithful member and deacon at First Baptist Church Arlington and was a passionate founding member and advocate for Christian Women’s Job Corps of Greater Arlington.
She is survived by her husband, Edward, and her son, Ryan, whom she adored being a loving wife and devoted mother for.
Cindy lived a life marked by deep faith, steadfast love, and a quiet strength that reflected her trust in Jesus Christ. Her walk with the Lord shaped every part of her journey — the way she loved her family, the way she served others, and the way she faced every season with courage and grace. Cindy’s life was a living testimony to God’s goodness.
Cindy was the beloved wife of Edward, her partner in faith, laughter, and life. Together they built a home grounded in devotion to God and to one another. Their marriage was a picture of commitment and companionship, strengthened by prayer, shared purpose, and a love that endured every chapter.
She was a devoted mother to her son, Ryan, whom she cherished deeply. Cindy poured her heart into motherhood — offering guidance, encouragement, and unconditional love. Her pride in her family was unmistakable, and her joy multiplied as she watched her loved ones grow, flourish, and carry forward the values she held dear.
Cindy was also a treasured daughter to her mother, Sandra, and a beloved daughter-in-law to Sandra, whom she loved as her own. Family was the heartbeat of Cindy’s life, and she honored those bonds with tenderness, respect, and unwavering loyalty.
She shared a lifelong connection with her brothers, Ted and Chris, whose relationships with her were filled with memories, laughter, and the kind of closeness that only siblings understand. Cindy also adored her nieces and nephews, celebrating their milestones, cheering on their dreams, and offering the kind of love that made each of them feel uniquely seen. She held a special bond with her beloved cousin Sara, whose friendship, support, and shared family history brought joy and comfort throughout every season of Cindy’s life. Cindy also adored her two dogs, Odie and Buddy, whose loyal companionship brought her daily joy, comfort, and laughter.
Cindy’s ministry extended far beyond her home. She served faithfully at First Baptist Church Arlington, a spiritual home she cherished deeply. Her heart for discipleship and encouragement found expression in many beloved ministries, including:
· WMU (Woman’s Missionary Union) — where she championed missions, prayer, and service.
· Christian Women’s Job Corps — where she poured into women seeking hope, skills, and a fresh start.
· Her treasured Sunday School class — a community she loved, prayed for, and walked alongside through every season.
· IF:Gathering — where she found inspiration, sisterhood, and a renewed passion for discipleship.
· Grounded — a ministry that nurtured her spiritual growth and deepened her connection with other women of faith.
Cindy lived her faith boldly and without apology. One of the verses that shaped her life was Romans 1:16, which declares, “For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes.” This truth guided her steps, emboldened her witness, and infused her life with purpose.
She had a gift for hospitality. Her home was a place of warmth and welcome, where friends and family gathered around her table to share stories, laughter, and the comfort of being truly known. She created spaces where people felt safe, valued, and loved — a reflection of the love of Christ that lived so deeply within her.
Throughout her life, Cindy faced challenges with remarkable resilience. She trusted God in every valley and praised Him on every mountaintop. Her strength was rooted not in her own ability, but in her unwavering belief that God was faithful. She lived with gratitude, purpose, and a gentle joy that touched everyone around her.
Cindy leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, and service — a life lived with intention and devotion. Those who knew her will remember her as a woman who walked closely with God, loved her family fiercely, and served others with humility and grace. Her influence will continue to shine through the lives she touched.
“Well done, good and faithful servant.”
Cindy was preceded in death by her adoring father, Fred, whose love, guidance, and steady presence shaped her life in countless ways. She carried his influence with her always, honoring his memory through the way she loved others and lived out her faith.
