Cynthia Ann Green, 61 peacefully transitioned from our lives on December 28th, 2018 in Arlington, TX. Cynthia spent her final days and hours with close family and friends whom ensured she was comfortable as she went to be with her Lord.
Cynthia Ann Carter was born on April 28th1957; the fourth of eight children to Laymon and Anna Mae Carter, Sr. in Shelbyville, Indiana. Cynthia attended Shelbyville High School where she was recognized as an exceptional student and participated in the Majorettes for the school marching band. She went on to Tarrant County Community College and Texas Wesleyan to become a certified paralegal. Cynthia also enjoyed theater, music and reading anything from romance novels to courtroom dramas.
After graduating high school in 1975, Cynthia moved to Texas where she met Elbert Green. They were married on February 12th, 1977 and would remain joined at the hip until her death.
(Note from her kids on her life)
Of the many things Mom enjoyed, baking was one of her favorites. Many friends and family members would request cakes and pies or would “drop in” if they heard she was cooking and eat the rest of her desserts. She also liked to have her children alongside her in the kitchen, teaching each of us how to cook at a young age.
Mom was an experienced paralegal working more than 20 years in corporate and family law. Her passion for the law and witnessing those less fortunate suffer in the justice system led her to pursue assisting those in need.
“I became fascinated with the law after watching Perry Mason on television. My young brain believed that justice was truly blind and that the good guys always won. Being an attorney or “Della Street”, Perry’s faithful sidekick, would be the best job ever.”
Mom would go on to volunteer for various causes—her favorites being assisting juveniles needing legal assistance and Wednesday's Child Adoption Program.
Mom was a generous gift giver and avid internet shopper. She loved party planning and being in the presence of family and friends. She was very compassionate and loved her children and grandchild, Karter Hagen more than “all the stars in the sky”.
Mom was a true light of the world and the extinguishing of her flame will not go unnoticed. She had a great life and was a true friend and confidante. Although we believe she is gone too soon, we know that we are better children for knowing her and our father. We know there will never be another Cynthia Ann Green. We love you mom to the moon and back.
Mom is survived by her husband Elbert of 42 years; sons Robert Andre; Craig K. (Eric); daughters Nichole Danielle; Nikki Marie Heath; granddaughter Karter Hagen; brothers Burdette Richards (Sue), Waymon (Cyril), Laymon (Kim); Sisters Diane, Sylvia, Vanessa Ward (Jesse) and Inez Williams; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
