Funeral: 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 1927 SW Green Oaks Blvd., Arlington, with Father Daniel Kelley officiating. Interment: Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery. Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Moore Funeral Home-Bowen Road.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, Dave and the family requested memorial donations be made to St. Vincent DePaul Society, 1927 SW Green Oaks Blvd., Arlington, Texas 76017.
David Gabourie was born in Traverse City, Mich., to Frank and Francis Gabourie on Sept. 12, 1934. He graduated with a bachelor of arts degree in psychology. He then enlisted and was commissioned in the United States Air Force and eventually became a special agent with the Office of Special Investigations until his retirement in 1978. In 1979, he began a career with the Defense Investigative Service and eventually transferred to the United States Customs Service where he served out his second career as an intelligence research specialist. He ultimately retired in 1998. He was actively involved in the Knights of Columbus as the longtime comptroller of Mary Queen of Peace 4th Degree Assembly 2112 in Arlington, and treasurer and charter member of Council 13470, St. Joseph the Worker in Arlington. He enjoyed life to the fullest and considered it a hobby.
The family wishes to extend gratitude to Arlington Memorial Hospice, their friends and the Catholic community that provided support and comfort throughout his illness. Today heaven gained another angel.
Survivors: His wife of 55 years, Rosemary; daughter, Laura Stephens and her husband, Richard, of Houston; sons, Tim and his wife, Kim, and Mike and his wife, Teri, of Dallas; and adult grandchildren, Christopher Marshall and Kristen Gabourie.
