

He was born January 18, 1930, in Pittsburgh, PA.
Don had a distinguished career as an aeronautical engineer and senior scientist. Upon graduating from the University of Cincinnati, Don became employed at Chance Vought Aircraft. His early career included work as a structural designer of various fighter planes and missile programs. As a senior scientist for the Space Shuttle program, his team developed reinforced carbon-carbon, a heat-dissipating material used in the nose cap and wing leading edges, making re-entry from space a reality. His last assignment was as a designer for the large radiators for the International Space Station, which are still in service.
Don had a great love for people. He also had a passion for the Chevrolet Corvair, of which he owned several in his lifetime.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Rebecca Phillips While. He is survived by his daughter, Becky Rosenboom; son-in-law, Rob Rosenboom; and two grandchildren, Mark and Bryce Rosenboom.
Services will be held Saturday, January 31, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Cedar Hill, Texas.
