Ann grew up in Enid, Oklahoma and eventually ended up in Fort Worth after retiring from a long and successful career at Ace Hardware. After retirement, she devoted her life to helping others. Sewing was her labor of love. She created hundreds of little girls’ dresses for the Union Gospel Mission of Tarrant County, pillowcases for Cook’s Children Hospital, and layettes for babies born at JPS Hospital. She volunteered countless hours at her church, Arborlawn Methodist, where she had a passion for helping disadvantaged people from her community. She loved spending time with her family and close friends. She was as selfless as she was elegant.
Ann is survived by her daughters Pam Potts and husband Keith, and Karen Richardson; grandchildren Melanie Hammond, Brad Potts and wife Jamie, and Stacy McDonald and husband Tyler; great grandchildren Aubrey Hammond, Addisyn Short, Hayden Potts, Jordan Potts; step-great grandchildren Bryleigh and Bryten McDonald, two nieces Judy Troutman and Patty Green. Ann was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Harry Smith Dockum, her sister Eva Nell Stewart and a granddaughter, Stephanie Jones.
A graveside service for Ann will be at 10:00am on Monday, April 10, 2023 at the Old Arlington Cemetery, Arlington, Texas. In lieu of flowers, the family asks remembrances in Ann’s name be made to the Union Gospel Mission of Tarrant County.
