Evelyn Surley went to be with her heavenly Father on February 3, 2014. Celebration of life will be Monday, February 10, 2014 at Moore and Sons Funeral Chapel at 11 AM. She was born in Harper, Kansas in 1923 to Herman and Daisy Shaw. Evelyn was a long time member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday School and served on the church council. She served as PTA President of Averill Elementary school. She was an avid member of the Red Cross and American Cancer Society. Evelyn was very active with the Neches River Festival; and, served as a Docent at the McFaddin-Ward House museum. Evelyn is preceded in death by her husband C. P. Surley and her parents. Those left to cherish her memory are her children Ron (Kaye) Surley of Dallas; and Karen (Tom) Dawson of Arlington. Two grandsons, David (Alice) Walker and daughter, Lucy ; and, Jacque Simms; and his daughter, Kyleigh.
