Guillermo Anaya, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 1, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in June 25, 1942 in Jalpa, Zacatecas, Mexico, to Juvenal and Dolores Anaya, Guillermo was the eldest of eleven children. His family later immigrated to San Jose, California, where he spent his formative years. He is survived by his siblings Guadalupe, Hermilo, Maria Elena, Enrique, Antonio, Dolores, Socorro, and Mario.
Guillermo had a different name for every chapter of his life. As a child, he was known as "Memo." To his school friends and many of his nieces and nephews, he was "Willie." To his coworkers and Texas family, he was "Bill." His career with General Motors eventually brought him to Arlington, Texas, where he proudly embraced life as a devoted Texan, hosting backyard barbecues and cheering on the Dallas Cowboys.
In 1984, Guillermo met the love of his life, Lydia "Lily" Anaya. Together, they shared 42 years of marriage filled with love, laughter, and unwavering devotion. He was a proud father to Cecilia, Mark, Billy, and Sandy, and a loving stepfather to Larry, Lilly, and Laura. His grandchildren, along with his many nieces and nephews, brought him immeasurable joy.
A man of many talents and interests, Guillermo learned the art of leatherworking from his father, loved singing and playing guitar, found peace in tending his garden, and enjoyed playing pool and poker. He was known for his sense of humor and never missed an opportunity to tell a joke or bring a smile to someone's face. He delighted in being playful and silly with those he loved. Above all, Guillermo was a hardworking man with a generous heart who always put family first.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Juvenal and Dolores Anaya; and his brothers, Alfonso and Alfonso Juvenal. He will be deeply missed by his wife, Lily; his children and stepchildren; his grandchildren; his brothers and sisters; his nieces and nephews; and the countless friends whose lives he touched.Though our hearts are heavy with loss, we take comfort in the love he shared and the memories he created. His kindness, laughter, and enduring love will remain with us always.
Rest in peace, Guillermo. You will be forever loved and never forgotten. ♥
