I will miss Hettie dearly - she was like a mother to me and a grandmother to my son.  I know all is well with Hettie now for she has gone Home.

Hettie Ruth Scharfschwerdt, 92, of Elizabethtown, New York, passed away on April 27, 2013, peacefully in her sleep.
Hettie was born in Okeechobee, Florida on June 6, 1920 to Edward and Laura Livinia.  She graduated from St. Lucie County High School and continued on to receive a nursing degree from Emory University in 1945.  
Hettie met her husband John T. Lamb of 32 years at her parent's home while he was on active duty in the US Navy.
Hettie worked as a nurse in Rockwell, Georgia and hospitals in New York City to support her husband through law school.  She enjoyed related to the outdoors such as sailing, hiking, fishing, golfing and creating beautiful gardens.  She was also was active with the Audubon Society.
Hettie is survived by her dear brother Fritz and his wife Norma Jean.  Hettie is also survived by her three children, Michael Lamb and his wife Joanna, their children Michael and Andrew; Nancy Zellers and her husband Paul, and their children Greg, Lori, and Brian; and Tom Lamb and his wife Becky, and their son Jason; five great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews.  Her devotion to family was her number one priority.
Hettie is preceded in death by her parents, as well as her sisters Elsa, Emma, and Anna, and her brothers Ed, Bill, and Robert.
She will be missed by all that knew her.  In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to a charity of your choice.
