Hilda was born in Marlette, Mich., on Nov. 18, 1923, to David and Katherine Gillig. She grew up in Flint, Mich., where she graduated from Flint Northern High School. She met Raymond E. Weber in junior high and they began dating in high school. After school, they eloped to Ohio and settled in Michigan. In 1947 they moved to Tucson, Ariz. While living in Arizona, Ray was recalled into the Air Force. Over the next 24 years the family lived in several different states.
After Ray's retirement they settled in Kokomo, Ind. In 1985 they moved to Indian Harbour Beach, Fla. In 2008, four years after Ray's death, Hilda moved to Arlington to be closer to her family. She moved to Greenfield Residence where she established and maintained their library. She enjoyed playing bridge and working her crossword puzzles. Hilda was an avid reader, enjoyed international traveling, as well as being an enthusiastic volunteer with many organizations, and researching her family's extended genealogy. She was the president of her residence organization for several terms and was an active member of American Historical Society of Germans from Russia.
Hilda was a remarkable woman who maintained her wit. She was fun to be around and had a special way of motivating others in a kind and loving manner. She was a very strong, intelligent and loving wife and mother.
Hilda was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond E. Weber; daughter, Deborah Weber; siblings, Emma Reisig, Kathryn Heidel, Mary Schmidt and David Gillig.
Survivors: Her children, Linda Stephenson and her husband, Jack, David Weber and his wife, Mary; grandson, David K. Weber; siblings, Ben Gillig, Esther Benjamin and Caron Dvorak.
