

Joan Louise Miller, age 87 of Flower Mound, passed away on August 21, 2018. She was born on April 14, 1931 in La Crosse, WI, the daughter of Erwin Haines and Louise St. Louis Haines. Joan married James Miller on June 9, 1951 and they celebrated 67 years of marriage together before her passing.
Joan founded Business Interiors in 1970 where she remained Chairman of the Board. Joan’s passion for design, business focus and strong leadership formed what has become one of the top companies in the office furniture industry as well as a nationally recognized women-owned business. The company has won numerous awards from customers, vendors and other organizations including the WBE of the Year three times from the Women’s Business Council-Southwest. Joan was active in many organizations in Tarrant County including Tarrant County United Way, Girls Club of Arlington, the Soroptimist Club and Board of Directors for Mercantile Bank.
Joan is survived by her husband, James; children Kathy White, Mike Miller, and Greg Miller; eight grandchildren; siblings Margaret Ormsby, James Haines, and Robert Haines; and sister-in-law Marilyn Devine.
Visitation will be 5-8PM on Friday, August 24 at Moore Bowen Road Funeral Home, Arlington, with a Rosary at 5:30PM. Funeral mass will be 10AM Saturday, August 25 at St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church, Arlington with Ft. Mike Ciski and Abbot Lawrence Stasyszen as celebrants. Interment will be at 3PM on Saturday at Moore Memorial Gardens.
