John graduated in 2012 from James Martin High School. John was a free spirit, avid outdoorsman, and an excellent fisherman. He traveled many places with his family including trips to Alaska, Arkansas, and South Padre Island, all of which made great memories fishing and spending time with family and extended family. Growing up, John enjoyed playing soccer and roller hockey, snowboarding, skateboarding, and playing video games--especially World of Warcraft.
John was a dear friend to many and had a heart of gold to help those who needed it. John’s sense of humor and fearless, adventurous personality led to many great times with his friends. John had a love for his family, especially his younger cousins. His family and friends will miss John, his awesome sense of humor, and kind smile. John expressed a desire to be an organ donor, and his organs (donated through LifeGift) are already helping save the lives of others.
John is survived by his parents Joe and Karen Mehlmann, sisters Kristin and Mackenzie Mehlmann; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. John was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Paul and Henrietta Kathamegos, and paternal grandfather John Mehlmann.
The family wishes to thank all of the friends, family and extended family who have been there for us and John during these difficult days and in the past. We also wish to thank the nurses, doctors, and staff at Methodist Mansfield Medical Center for their heroic efforts and genuine caring.
