Josefina Gonzalez, 93 years old, of Grand Prairie, Texas passed away on February 10, 2025. She had been residing at Mayberry Gardens Memory Care, Grand Prairie, Texas, where she was well taken care of.
She was born in Los Villarreales, Texas. She graduated from Rio Grande City High School. She was married to Lucio Gonzalez, Sr. for 58 years and they had eight children.
Josefina was an excellent seamstress and made her daughters’ dresses. During the 1960’s she worked in Abilene making military uniforms during Christmas for extra money. Josefina also worked at Boriack Drapery shop making custom drapes for Dallas/Fort Worth businesses for several years. She acquired a position with the United States Postal Services in Irving, Texas, and after several years she retired from there. She was an excellent quilter and made quilts for all her loved ones. She had some excellent crochet skills and made scarves and hats for her family.
Josefina is survived by her children and their spouses, Lucinda Browning (Larry), Lucio Gonzalez, Jr. (Jennifer), Belinda Duron, Joe Gonzales, Erasmo Gonzales (Monica), Eddie Gonzales (Susie) and Paul Gonzales. Several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Also survived by her brother, Cruz Garza, Jr. and sister, Minerva Rodriguez.
She is preceded in death by husband, Lucio Gonzalez, Sr.; and son, John Gonzales; her parents, Cruz Garza, Sr. and Guadalupe Rodriguez. Also her brothers, Rogerio Garza, Leonel Garza, Rene Garza, Raul Garza, Jose M. Garza and sisters, Vangie Galvan, Elma Fuentes, Estella Muniz, Alicia Perez, and Lupe Alvarez.
A visitation for Josefina will be held Tuesday, February 18, 2025 from 5:30 PM to 8:00 PM at Bean-Massey-Burge Funeral Home, 2951 S Belt Line Road, Grand Prairie, TX 75052. A funeral mass will occur Wednesday, February 19, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM at St Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, 2910 Corn Valley Rd, Grand Prairie, TX 75052. A committal service will occur Wednesday, February 19, 2025 from 11:30 AM to 12:00 PM at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Pkwy, Dallas, TX 75211.
