She was born April 23, 1924, in Alvord Texas to Gus and Alice Green. Josie was an avid Texas Rangers fan and loved to talk baseball. She made the best chicken-fried steak, macaroni and cheese, cornbread dressing and pecan pie. Despite her down-home cooking, Josie remained very active and fit. She was a natural athlete who golfed and bowled. She shot a hole-in-one on two separate occasions and frequently bowled above 200. She and her husband, Jack, were members of Rolling Hills Country Club in Arlington and later at De Cordova Bend Country Club in Granbury. She was a member in regular attendance at St. Barnabas United Methodist Church.
Her life was a shining example of love and servanthood. Josie fought the good fight and finished well.
The following was written by her 9-year-old great-grandson, Jacob:
Josie lived a very good life, but it was just time to go to heaven. Evil had won but also lost because now she is in heaven. Just please, oh please, just please say a beautiful, long prayer for Josie.
Josie was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Andrew J. "Jack" Richardson; son, Charles Richardson; and sister, Ruby McClung.
