Kay Fern Kearns

Kay Kearns passed away peacefully on July 20, 2026, in Arlington,

Texas, surrounded by her loved ones. She was 92 years old.

Kay was born March 18, 1934, in Kirkwood, Missouri, the only child of the late Ruth Bradford and Milton Parker.

Kay graduated from Truman State University and received a degree in teaching. While at Truman State University, she met and married Dr. Roy Kearns in 1956. They had three daughters - Kristina Timpte (Tim), Kim McHard, and Karen Ordonez (Steve). After Roy’s graduation from Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine, the family moved to the St. Louis area where Roy practiced medicine and Kay became a housewife.

The family traveled many times on vacation to Colorado. In 1970, the family moved to Grand Junction, where Dr. Kearns practiced Family Medicine for over 30 years. After his retirement, Kay and Roy divorced and Kay moved to Arlington, Texas to be near her daughters and grandchildren.

Besides her family, Kay loved gardening and was an avid bridge player. She was very proud of her American heritage and developed a love for genealogy. Kay was a direct descendant of William Bradford, the first Governor of Plymouth colony. Additionally, she was a long-time member of The Daughters of the American Revolution and the Order of the Eastern Star.

Kay is survived by her 3 daughters, eight grandchildren - Ryan Timpte (Kathy Joy), Carly Harrison (Dan), Sarah Taylor (Will), Amanda McDonald (Dustin), Elizabeth McHard, Sgt. William McHard, Kersten Wolf (Daniel) and Connor Ordonez, as well as nine (soon to be ten) great-grandchildren.

Kay will be interred next to her parents in St. Louis, Missouri.
